Camping at Beautiful Lakes in An Giang
Camping at the lakes in An Giang was once a trend that attracted many young people. With a system of artificial lakes stretching across many districts, this place offers countless options for you. However, in my opinion, not every lake is as sparkling as it appears in pictures; you have to see it with your own eyes to truly judge. I’ll give a brief review of the lakes my team visited to give you some suggestions. Since it’s a personal opinion, you can refer to other sources for more information:
- Soai So Lake: The lake is located next to Co To Mountain, with a pretty nice view. It’s also close to other tourist attractions in An Giang, making it very convenient for you. The road to Soai So Lake is quite easy; just follow Tran Hung Dao street, drive a short distance past Tri Ton Commune People’s Committee, and you will see the welcome gate of Suoi Vang Soai So Tourist Area. A large lake right at the foot of To Mountain is Soai So Lake.
- O Thum Lake: This lake belongs to O Lam Commune, Tri Ton District, located to the west of Co To Mountain and to the east of Tuc Dup Hill, which is why the view around the lake is quite picturesque.
A plus point here is the famous O Thum grilled chicken, a specialty of the Bay Nui region. So, when you come here for car camping or by any means, you won’t have to worry about going hungry. However, during the dry season, this place can be a bit barren, with burnt grass, and the lake water might not be as sparkling, so keep that in mind to avoid surprises.
- Soai Check Lake: This is also an artificial lake, not very suitable for camping. Extensive sand mining has ruined the beauty of this place and it’s also quite dangerous.
- O Ta Soc Lake: The lake is located at the foot of Ngoa Long Mountain, with a decent view for those who want to go car camping. This lake has a large area, located at the foot of Ngoa Long Mountain in Luong Phi Commune, about 12 km from Tri Ton district center via Provincial Road 955B. There are also restaurants with pretty nice views near the lake, so don’t worry about not having a place for virtual living (taking photos).
Tri An Lake – Dong Nai

Camping at Tri An Lake is probably already very popular with young people in the South. Tri An Lake is also quite close to Saigon, only 70km from the city. The road to the lake is quite flat and easy to drive, very suitable for those who want to go car camping. As a large freshwater lake, Tri An Lake is perfect for water activities such as SUP paddling, fishing, campfires, and BBQ by the lake.
Camping at Tri An Lake, you can admire both sunrise and sunset on the same day. The sun reflecting on the lake’s surface will create an incredibly sparkling and mystical scene. Don’t hesitate to invite your friends and loved ones here to check-in. This place is very suitable for those who like wild camping and travel by car.
Dau Tieng Lake

Dau Tieng Lake, located in Tay Ninh province, is the largest artificial lake in Vietnam. The scenery around the lake is incredibly poetic, with lush green banks resembling highlands, and the camping view overlooks the vast lake. In the distance, you can even see Ba Den Mountain amidst floating clouds.
Car camping at Dau Tieng Lake will be a very suitable choice, especially for families. Although traveling by car doesn’t allow you to freely stop for roadside check-ins, it compensates by letting you bring all the necessary gear and food to make your camping trip more complete.
Camping in Can Gio

Phuong Nam Beach Ecotourism Area in Can Gio is a popular camping spot due to its proximity to Saigon city center. Phuong Nam Beach Ecotourism Area offers a spacious environment, making it an extremely effective stress reliever. To camp here, you’ll need to pay about 50,000 VND per person for the entrance fee. However, this fee is well worth it for pitching your tent with a beautiful beach view, free swimming pool access, and plenty of opportunities for check-ins. If you want to have a BBQ party, you should buy seafood at the market and ask the locals here to prepare it for you.
Suoi Mo Park

- Address: No. 9, Hamlet 6, Tra Co Commune, Tan Phu, Dong Nai Province.
- This place is extremely suitable for families who want to go car camping. However, like other tourist areas, you’ll have to pay an entrance fee.
- Weekdays: Adults 80,000 VND, children 50,000 VND.
- Weekends: Adults 100,000 VND, children 60,000 VND.
- This place is about 100km from Saigon city center, boasting a cool, leafy environment and a large natural lake. The camping grounds here are lush green, featuring both mountains and forests, making it perfect for outdoor camping to escape the summer heat.
Suoi Mo Park also has a complex of water games, kayaking, water cars, etc. With its extremely spacious environment, you can freely organize team building activities or group games here.
Camping Tips, Family Car Camping Travel Tips
Choose a Suitable “Pitching” Location
There are many factors to consider when finding a suitable camping location. First and foremost, you should prioritize consulting with your family members. Then, consider factors such as travel costs for near or far locations, weather conditions, and the health of family members during the car ride.
Choose a Good Time and Weather for Car Camping
Camping in every season, whether rainy or sunny, offers different experiences. If you go on a sunny day, it’ll be easier to move around, but the air won’t be as cool and “chill” as when it rains. However, no matter what season you go, you should always have waterproof gear ready to prevent sudden rain showers.
Choose the Right Type of Car for Car Camping
If you’re camping in flat areas, it’s simple. But if you want to traverse winding terrain like forests or hills, you’ll need to use a suitable type of vehicle. Furthermore, for long distances, regular vehicle maintenance and inspection are also very necessary.
Bring Enough Camping Equipment
Many camping spots are not crowded and lack many shops or restaurants. Therefore, being prepared is never excessive. Besides your tent, don’t forget to prepare enough cooking utensils, warming equipment, and sufficient food and drinks.
